Who We AreOur goal is to provide fresh, healthy produce, honey and other products for ourselves, friends, coworkers and neighbors at a very low cost. No produce is wasted. What isn't sold is donated to the Harford Community Action Agency, Inc. food pantry as well as local churches and other food pantries. Since 2012 we have donated more than one ton of fresh high-quality produce.
We practice what we call "harmonic gardening™" meaning we work in harmony with the existing natural presences on the farm. We avoid using pesticides, allowing the insects to eat their share. Using floating row covers, hand-picking insects, planting trap crops is sufficient to keep nearly all vegetable pests under control. Using these practices, the natural predatory bugs have been increasing year over year and they help to control the unwanted pests. |
Our HistoryFrom an early age we dreamed of owning a farm. College, careers, life, happened and we finally bought a 23 acre farm in the heart of Harford County Maryland in 2010. We are firm believers in Mahatma Ghandi's philosophy to “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Lost Acre Farm has provided MANY learning opportunities from raising honeybees and chickens to growing vegetables, fruit and flowers on a scale well beyond the backyard garden.
Lumina™ Honey & Hive Products was started in 2016 to focus on our honey and beeswax related products as well as related items such as soap, beeswax candles, lip balm and loofah gourds. |
